The Presidency has refuted claims by Rabiu Kwankwaso, the National Leader of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), that the Federal Government plans to declare a state of emergency in Kano State.
Kwankwaso made the allegations during a road construction project launch in Madobi, accusing the federal government of compromising Kano's security.
Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga dismissed these allegations as mere rumors, stating that such a declaration would require the involvement of the National Assembly, currently in recess.
He emphasized that there is no such plan and that the rumors are unfounded.
Kano State Commissioner of Police Ussain Gumel also addressed the issue, stating that his officers are duty-bound to protect both emirs.
He clarified that they are awaiting directives from the Attorney General and Minister of Justice regarding court orders received during the emirate crisis.
The Commissioner appealed for public patience and calm as they await the outcome of legal proceedings and official directives.
The Presidency's swift response and the Kano State Commissioner of Police's clarifications aim to dispel any uncertainty and maintain stability in the state.
