Alhaji Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, the Emir of Potiskum, has called for peace across the emirate and Nigeria. He made the appeal on Wednesday after Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Potiskum Eid Ground.
Thousands of Muslims gathered for the two raka'at prayers that morning. They witnessed the Chief Imam slaughter a ram, formally beginning the sacrificial rites.
Speaking to the crowd, the monarch stressed that peace underpins development. He noted that unity and public order remain vital for progress in Yobe State and the nation.
According to him, lasting peace and abundant rainfall are essential blessings for the people. He prayed for prosperity during and after the Eid festivities.
The Emir commended Yobe State Government's dedication to public welfare and development. His words reflected appreciation for the state's recent efforts.
He also urged residents to continue accepting polio vaccines. Disease prevention, he said, remains crucial for the state's health security.
Sheikh Goni Isah Garba Auta, Chief Imam of Potiskum, led the congregational prayers. In his address, he called on Muslims to practice obedience and piety.
The cleric urged the faithful to embrace charity and total submission to Allah's will. He cited Prophet Ibrahim's example as a model for believers.
Traditional rulers, title holders and religious scholars attended the ceremony. Government officials also joined thousands of worshippers from across the emirate.
