Gombe State Police Command rescued an eight-year-old boy abducted in Akko Local Government Area and arrested four suspects in connection with the crime. The police spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, confirmed the breakthrough in a statement released Thursday in Gombe.

The boy's father, Muhammadu Nabadara, reported his son missing to Akko Divisional Police Headquarters on June 28, after the child left home around 6:30 am the previous day and didn't return. Police detectives immediately began investigating and launched efforts to locate the missing child.

On June 29, the family received a phone call claiming to have information about the boy's whereabouts, but officers verified the tip and found it false. Intelligence-led operations yielded results the next day when detectives arrested Abdullahi Mohammed of Jauro Musa Quarters in Kumo, Akko LGA.

During questioning, Mohammed confessed to conspiring with three others to carry out the abduction. He named Mohammed Magaji, 35; Sale Sale, 23; and Walida Ya'u, 18, all residents of Kagarawal Quarters, Gombe, as his co-conspirators.

The three other suspects were arrested, and police recovered the boy from their custody unharmed. He was immediately reunited with his family.

"The victim was successfully rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family," the statement said. Investigation continues, and the command will charge all four suspects in court once proceedings conclude.
