Police in Kebbi State are searching for a man whose wife died from a gunshot wound. The tragic incident happened in Geza Village, Bagudo Local Government Area, on June 9.
Sa'ima Sani, 25, was shot in the stomach and left hand with a locally made Dane gun. Her husband, Auwalu Hassan, had asked her to fetch the loaded weapon from their home.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details on X, the gun discharged while Sa'ima carried it toward the rear of the house. Hassan was waiting there when the weapon fired accidentally.
Residents immediately reported the shooting to police. Officers from Bagudo Divisional Police Headquarters rushed to the scene and transported her to General Hospital in Bagudo.
She died while receiving treatment at the facility. Police photographed and processed her body before releasing it to family members for burial.
Investigators say Hassan fled the area shortly after the incident occurred. Authorities haven't located him yet and are intensifying their search operations.
