Police, NUJ partner in curbing criminal activities in Ekiti

The Police Command in Ekiti and the state council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have partnered to checkmate criminal activities in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NUJ) reports that the arrangement was concluded during the visit of the Commissioner of Police, Dare Ogundare to NUJ Press Centre in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday.

The police commissioner stressed the need for journalists to support the police in checking criminal activities through adequate reportage of the command’s activities.

He appreciated the efforts of the journalists in the state in enlightening members of the public on the efforts being put in place by the police to ensure that residents slept with their two eyes closed.

He said that necessary machinery had been put in place to make the state safe and peaceful for all and sundry.

Ogundare said that the command had arrested suspected notorious criminal who had been terrorising the state.

In his remarks, Chairman of NUJ in the state, Mr Rotimi Ojomoyela, appreciated the CP for finding it worthy to visit members of the union.

Ojomoyela urged the police to extend their services to some black spots in the state, such as Atikankan in Ado-Ekiti, Oke-Ako, Irele, Ipao and Ikere-Ise Ekiti road.

The NUJ chairman also seized the occasion to commend the giant strides of the officer in charge of Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Mr Marcus Ogundola.
