Lagos police operatives arrested 150 suspects and recovered 100 unregistered motorcycles during a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts in Igando and Idimu. The operation, which took place around 5:45 am on Sunday, targeted black spots across the Area M, Idimu axis, including locations at Boolar and Oko Filling Bus Stop.
The raid was conducted under Operation KO S'AYE, the command's ongoing crackdown on criminal activities across the state. According to SP Abimbola Adebisi, the police public relations officer, the operation involved a joint team drawn from different formations of the Lagos State Police Command.
Officers recovered 54 mobile phones, one double-barrel gun, two single-barrel guns, and one locally made double-barrel shotgun during the sweep. They also seized two military camouflage uniforms, six generators suspected to be stolen, assorted charms, and various quantities of illicit drugs.
Substances suspected to be Indian hemp were also found in the raid. All suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine their individual roles in criminal activities.
The command said those found guilty of criminal offences will face prosecution in court. "We're committed to ensuring criminals have nowhere to hide," Adebisi stated in the Monday statement.
Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai praised the operatives involved in the operation for their professionalism and dedication. He noted that Operation KO S'AYE will continue across Lagos to deny criminals safe spaces and protect residents.
Fatai reaffirmed the command's commitment to sustaining aggressive clearance operations against criminal hideouts throughout the state. The police boss stressed that the safety and security of Lagos residents remain the priority of the command.
