Gunmen attacked Nding community in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday night. Six people died in the assault, including five members of one family.

The violence erupted around 9 p.m. as residents went about their evening activities. Attackers opened fire on unsuspecting civilians without warning.

Community member Weng Christopher witnessed the bloodshed firsthand. He told reporters that five family members were killed instantly, with another resident also losing his life.

"This is becoming too frequent. People are living in constant fear," Christopher lamented to our correspondent.

Fear has gripped the area as attacks continue to plague Plateau State. Residents now move about with heightened anxiety over their safety.

Rwang Tengwong, Publicity Secretary of Berom Youth Moulders, confirmed the deaths. He condemned the attackers and demanded immediate security intervention from authorities.

Gunmen also attempted to strike Rim community in Riyom Local Government Area that same night. Local vigilantes and Operation Rainbow personnel successfully repelled them before casualties occurred.

Tengwong called the string of incidents unacceptable and unsustainable. According to him, government must urgently scale up protection efforts across the state.

Security agencies have remained silent on the killings so far. No official statement had been issued by press time.

Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, Plateau chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, said his group was unaware of the incident. He urged investigators to look into what triggered the attack and identify those responsible.
