PHEW Foundation holds peace building programme; ‘Try Peace, Stop Violence at Ekpan’

An International non-governmental organisation (NGO), PHEW foundation held a peace building programme, at Ekpan Secondary School, Uviwe local government Area, Delta state.

The seminar, which was tagged; “Catch them Young, Try Peace, Stop Violence,” is aimed at teaching the students the importance of ‘tolerating differences’ by resolving crisis with dialogue and channeling their anger to positive things.

The programme also saw the Foundation encouraging and teaching the students on how to think before acting in any situation and, to also report their problems to the right authorities.

There was also a question and answer session where a student, Victor Moses was honored with a gift and certificate of ‘Peace Ambassador’ for giving correct answers to questions asked.

As part of the programme, the Foundation thereafter moved to Ekpan roundabout where the Chairman of Uviwe of LGA, Hon Ramson Onoyake unveiled the “Peace Signpost.” after a brief interaction with the Foundation.

In a brief media chat, the Programme Director of PHEW Foundation, Chigbo Uche said, “the Foundation is aimed at sensitizing the young ones on the need to give peace a chance, and look for ways to ensure peace reigns in their individual homes, communities and states.”

“We also intend to reach out to Churches, women groups, marketplaces etc, and also look at ways to empower our youths in the future.

Adding that the Foundation also advocate against human trafficking, eradicating teenage pregnancy, improve environment and provide safe portable water.
