Peter Obi: Not Desperate for Presidency, Nigeria’s Potential Untapped

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the last general election, Mr. Peter Obi, was awarded the ‘Leadership Politician of the Year 2023’ at the annual Leadership Conference and Awards.

During his acceptance speech, Obi emphasized that he was not desperate to be Nigeria’s President but rather, he was determined to see the country thrive.

Obi pointed out that Nigeria has no reason to be poor, given its vast land resources. He mentioned that Niger State alone has the capacity to feed not only Nigeria but the whole of Africa.

He expressed disappointment that Ukraine, a war-torn country, had to donate grains to Nigeria, highlighting the untapped potential of Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

The former Anambra State governor stressed that with proper leadership, Nigeria could effectively address poverty and crime by engaging its youth in productive activities.

He also mentioned that states like Borno and Taraba, with their large land areas, could contribute significantly to the nation’s food production.

Peter Obi’s statements emphasize the need for Nigeria to focus on harnessing its resources and potential to build a prosperous and secure nation.

By doing so, the country could reduce poverty and crime rates, and become a major player in the global food market.
