President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has earned the praise of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) for giving Dr. Chioma Ejikeme another term as executive secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
The NUP also denied any plans to protest against her reappointment.
The statement was issued by their national president, Comrade Godwin Abumisi.
The NUP, which represents pensioners in Nigeria, said that the reappointment was based on merit, as Ejikeme had restored the confidence of pensioners across the country with her leadership skills and professional approach to the job in the past four years.
The statement said: “I, Chief Godwin Abumisi, wish to express my gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President Federal Republic of Nigeria, for renewing the appointment of Dr. Chioma Ejikeme as the Executive Secretary (ES) of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).
“This excellent reappointment is well deserved and makes the hearts of over two hundred and fifty thousand pensioners managed by PTAD happy, considering the efficient work she has done for the pensioners by ensuring the timely payment of our monthly pensions and addressing other challenging issues in the last four years.
“I want to state that there is no opposition to her appointment in the NUP, and any talk of protests against her reappointment is coming from the empty minds of people who are paid by the enemies of the Nigerian pensioner. I hereby urge all members of the NUP to support Dr. Ejikeme to enable her to continue the good works of uplifting the dignity of the Nigerian pensioner.”
