Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are currently in an emergency meeting in Abuja to address the internal crisis rocking the opposition party.
PUNCH Online gathered that the meeting is taking place at the lodge of Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Bala Mohammed. The forum is expected to expand into an enlarged session, which will include members of the party's National Working Committee, the Board of Trustees (BoT), the National Assembly caucus, and the Forum of former PDP Governors.
Attendees at the meeting include Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; and Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang. Also present are Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum; National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature (retd.); and BoT Secretary, Ahmed Makarfi.
Although the specific agenda has not been disclosed, sources indicate that key issues up for discussion include appointing a substantive national chairman, convening a National Executive Committee meeting, and preparations for the upcoming Ondo State governorship election.
The ongoing meeting reflects the party's efforts to resolve its internal challenges and strategize for upcoming political engagements.
