A driver whose identity remains unknown died in a single-vehicle crash on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos on Saturday. The accident happened at Charity Bus Stop near Iyana Isolo when his Honda Pilot SUV went out of control.

The vehicle overturned multiple times before stopping. Its impact was catastrophic, killing the driver instantly as he became pinned beneath the twisted metal.

LASTMA officials were already patrolling the area when the crash occurred. They rushed to the scene with Mosafejo Police Division officers right behind them.

The emergency team worked to free the victim from the wreckage. They managed to maintain steady traffic flow while preventing secondary accidents on the busy road.

Officials from the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit arrived afterward. They transported the body to a public mortuary following standard health protocols.

Police took custody of the damaged vehicle for their investigation. The wreckage would help them determine exactly what caused the loss of control.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki issued a statement mourning the tragedy. He extended sympathy to the deceased's family and loved ones.

Bakare-Oki called on drivers to be more careful behind the wheel. He emphasized that motorists must respect speed limits and follow traffic rules religiously.

According to him, late-night and early-morning drives pose serious risks. He noted that reduced visibility and driver fatigue create dangerous conditions during these hours.

The LASTMA boss warned against reckless driving and unsafe overtaking. He stressed that speeding remains one of the deadliest habits on Lagos roads.

"Human life must be our priority on every journey," Bakare-Oki told reporters. "No destination is worth risking your safety or anyone else's," he added, urging all road users to make smart choices daily.
