By Ovasa Ogaga, Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe, PhD, CON., has described the death of former Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi as a devastating blow to Delta State politics, saying the loss has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill. Orubebe said he received the news of Nwaoboshi’s death “with a rude shock,” noting that it was hard to believe that the late lawmaker—whom he referred to as “the Oracle”—was no more.

He described the late senator as “a politician of many parts; an organiser, mobiliser, orator and a charismatic leader,” whose influence cut across party lines and generations.

According to him, “I received the death of Senator Peter Nwaoboshi with a rude shock. Indeed, it is hard to believe that the Oracle is no more.

“To think that the pioneer Secretary of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, and two-time State Chairman is no more is like a dream. “Senator Nwaoboshi was a politician of many parts; an organiser, mobilizer, Orator and a charismatic leader. “His demise has created a big vacuum not only in Delta North Senatorial District but in Delta State in general. “My deep and heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Delta State government led by His Excellency, Rt. Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori and to the Nigerian Senate to which he once belonged. May the Almighty God give fortitude to his immediate family, the Anioma people and Delta State to bear this unfortunate death.
