Samuel Ortom, the former Benue governor, has rejected claims linking him to Nigeria's 2027 presidential race. A campaign poster circulating online, he insists, is fake and designed to mislead the public.
His media adviser, Terver Akase, released a statement on Thursday clarifying the former governor's position. Ortom has no interest in contesting for president or seeking any elected office in 2027.
According to Akase, mischief-makers created the poster to stir political tension and confuse Nigerians. Ortom has made his stance clear repeatedly, the adviser noted.
"It is entirely false and unfounded," the statement read regarding the viral poster. "The poster was designed by mischief makers to spread confusion and fuel baseless political speculation."
Akase urged Nigerians to disregard the poster entirely. He described it as deliberate misinformation targeting unsuspecting citizens.
The former governor has consistently stated he won't participate in the 2027 presidential contest. His media team emphasized that members of the public should dismiss such claims.
