Ondo State Governor Appoints New Deputy Governor

The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has officially named Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami as the new Deputy Governor of the state.

The announcement was made on January 24, 2024, following the dissolution of the State Executive Council.

Chief Adelami, who hails from Owo, the same local government area as the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, is a former Deputy Clerk to the National Assembly.

He retired from the position in April 2018 and has since been actively involved in the political sphere.

Adelami was born over 6 decades ago to the family of Oluka Oribokun by Pa and Mrs Amos and was a former governorship aspirant in 2020 before stepping down for the late Akeredolu.

He is also an alumnus of Imade College and has a Bachelor of Science in Administration from the University of Lagos.

Adelami’s appointment has been confirmed by the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Olamide Oladiji, and his name has been received from the Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

With his extensive experience in the National Assembly and his background in administration, Chief Olayide Owolabi Adelami is expected to be a valuable addition to the Ondo State Government as the new Deputy Governor.

The appointment of Chief Adelami as the Deputy Governor of Ondo State comes at a crucial time, as the state is undergoing a period of political transition following the passing of Governor Akeredolu.

The new Deputy Governor is expected to bring his wealth of experience to the table and work closely with Governor Aiyedatiwa to ensure the continued development and progress of the state.

In a statement released by the Governor’s office, Chief Adelami expressed his gratitude for the appointment and pledged to work tirelessly for the people of Ondo State.

He also called on all stakeholders to join hands with the government in its efforts to move the state forward.

As the new Deputy Governor assumes his role, the people of Ondo State eagerly await the positive impact he will have on the state’s development and growth.
