President Tinubu's spokesperson has lashed out at Peter Obi for quitting the African Democratic Congress. Bayo Onanuga accused the former Anambra governor of political calculation ahead of 2027.
Obi announced his resignation from the ADC on Sunday via social media. He claimed state actors had destabilized the party, just as they did with Labour Party before.
Onanuga fired back on X with sharp criticism. "The political nomad is on the move again," he wrote, dismissing Obi's explanations as unconvincing.
According to the presidential aide, Obi lacks the mettle to compete fairly. "He's a politician made of jelly, an opportunistic fellow," Onanuga stated in his post.
Onanuga suggested Obi always takes the easier path. He argued this strategy failed in 2023 and will lead nowhere in the coming election.
The adviser noted that Obi typically blames others without self-reflection. "He always blames the government without doing a soul-searching of himself," Onanuga said.
He predicted Obi would struggle to secure the ADC ticket against heavyweight contenders. Onanuga concluded by sarcastically welcoming him to the 2027 presidential race.
