Omehia Slams Wike: Urges Purge of Power Greed and Support for Fubara

Former Governor of Rivers State, Sir Celestine Omehia, has strongly criticized the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, over his comments on Uche Secondus, Sen George Sekibo, and other PDP leaders in Rivers State.

Omehia’s remarks come in response to Wike’s live television interview in Abuja, where he referred to the aforementioned leaders as “expired politicians and buccaneers” due to their support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Omehia labeled Wike’s unrestrained outbursts as the product of a confused mind, suggesting that Wike’s anger stems from the failure of his ambition for a third term.

He further claimed that the people of Rivers State have realized that Wike’s quest for power is driven by personal interests rather than the interests of the state or the South-South region as a whole.

The former governor also accused Wike of lying against innocent individuals, disrespecting elders, and speaking from both sides of his mouth.

Omehia went on to question why Wike is displeased with the support for Governor Fubara and the Federal Government under President Tinubu, suggesting that Wike’s desire for perpetual political conflict is unreasonable.

In his statement, Omehia advised Wike to focus on his job in Abuja and leave the governance of Rivers State to Fubara, emphasizing that the state is not missing his presence or nuisance value.

He further urged the FCT Minister to reduce his propensity for power and greed, allowing Fubara to carry out his responsibilities without unnecessary interference.

As the political landscape in Rivers State continues to evolve, the ongoing feud between Omehia and Wike highlights the deep-rooted divisions within the state’s political circles.

With Omehia’s call for Wike to step back and allow Fubara to govern, it remains to be seen how the political dynamics in Rivers State will play out in the coming months.

The public exchange between Omehia and Wike serves as a reminder of the complex and often contentious nature of Nigeria’s political landscape, where personal ambitions, power struggles, and conflicting interests can create significant tension.

As Rivers State moves forward under the leadership of Governor Fubara, the political class and citizens alike will be watching closely to see how the state navigates these challenges and works towards a more unified and prosperous future.
