Olu of Warri urges more government positions for women

Yesterday, at the 40th anniversary celebration of News Engineering Limited in Abuja, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, called for more female representation in government. He said that women have the ability to transform whatever they are given and contribute to Nigeria’s economic development.

He praised the CEO of the firm, Josephine Nwaeze, for continuing and improving the legacy of her late husband. He advised her not to be intimidated by the big shoes she had to fill but to embrace her own uniqueness and potential.

He said, “You might have felt overwhelmed by how much he (her husband) achieved because he left behind very large shoes to fill. But you should not let that stop you from moving forward, because God has given you your own shoe size that is different from his.

“Deputy Speaker, you mentioned how a woman has made such impacts, but this is not surprising because women are gifted with the power to nurture, incubate, and manifest whatever seed they are given.

“She has taken the seed that he left with her, and she has nurtured, incubated, and manifested it into a strong, functional, and thriving organisation that is better than what her husband left for her.
