Okpe youth condemns killing of officers in Oton, urge security agents to unravel the killers

A group under the umbrella, Okpe Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) has condemned in strong terms the recent killings of security personnel by unidentified gunmen at the Oton military checkpoint in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

 

This is contained in a statement by the President-General of OYC, Hon. Harrison Ekeleme, he explained that “Okpe kingdom is a quiet and hospitable place for local and international investors and it should not be distracted by the killings that took place recently.

 

It would be recalled that a soldier and a policeman at a military checkpoint were shot dead over the weekend by unknown gunmen and their service riffles taken by the hoodlums.

 

While appealing to the youths, leaders and elders of the Oton to maintain peace, law, order and not to be polluted by pockets of faceless cultists and hoodlums who have been terrorizing the area in recent times, Ekeleme urged the security agents to be at alert and focused on how to forestall further break down of law and order in the area and fish out the perpetrators of the evil so that the law will catch up with whoever that involved.

 

“Our law enforcement agents must be at its best to unravel the killers of the officers and bring them to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.”

 

“We commiserate with the immediate families of the fallen officers because they stood for the peace and unity of our nation, God should grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.

 

“Our youths must to strive hard and find their hands in useful ventures that will provide food on their tables, particularly at this moment when the country is experiencing economic challenges. The youths are the leaders of tomorrow and must learn to constitute themselves in an orderly manner in order for them to fulfil their destinies,” he said.
