The Ogodo family of Sapele, Delta State, has denied allegations of involvement in the attempted sale of the Veterinary Hospital in the area, calling the claims baseless and politically motivated.
Speaking at a press briefing on Saturday, Chief Cyril Abeye Ogodo, a principal member of the family, dismissed the report published by Sapele Channels, which alleged that the family attempted to sell the hospital and faced arrest orders from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Chief Ogodo clarified, “The Ogodo family has no business with the Veterinary Hospital. Those involved in any litigation over the hospital are not members of our family. No member of the Ogodo family has engaged in any transaction concerning the clinic.”
He described the allegations as politically driven, aimed at tarnishing his reputation. “This publication is a deliberate attempt to smear my name. The repeated mention of ‘Chief Cyril’ in the report clearly shows the political undertones. Elections and appointments are over, and this is nothing more than a malicious attack,” he stated.
Accusing political adversaries of orchestrating the claims, Chief Ogodo said, “Certain individuals, likely driven by envy or political rivalry, are behind this. They want to damage a name I’ve built with integrity over the years.”
Pledging his loyalty to Governor Oborevwori, Chief Ogodo praised the governor’s dedication to the state. “The Governor is working hard to deliver the dividends of democracy, and I remain fully supportive of his administration. I have no reason to act against the government,” he affirmed.
The family called on the public to disregard the allegations, describing them as malicious and unfounded. “This is a calculated attempt by certain politicians in Sapele to bring us down. The facts are clear for anyone willing to verify,” Chief Ogodo said.
He also announced plans to seek legal action against the publisher of Sapele Channels. “This defamatory publication will not go unanswered. We will take appropriate legal steps to clear our name and hold the responsible parties accountable,” he concluded.
The Ogodo family reiterated their commitment to maintaining their legacy and integrity, stating that no amount of political antagonism would tarnish their reputation.
