Police in Osun State arrested a man named Adegoke Tee on Friday. He's accused of causing a fatal road accident that killed two officers.
The crash happened on Wednesday at Oogi community in Ayedaade local government area. Corporal Oluwatobiloba Odedina and Kehinde Adeleke died in the collision.
Both men were returning home after official duties when a Lexus hit them. Witnesses said they died instantly at the scene.
According to sources, the driver left the vehicle behind and ran away. An angry crowd had gathered, and he feared attack from residents.
Police launched a search immediately after the incident. They found and arrested Tee two days later.
DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the command's spokesman, confirmed the arrest to reporters. "One Adegoke was arrested and the matter was transferred to the Traffic Unit in Osogbo," he noted.
Details about what caused the accident remain unclear. The police command hasn't released further information on the case.
It's unclear what charges Tee will face. Officials have not commented on possible charges yet.
