Police operatives have arrested multiple suspects linked to kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling and theft across Jigawa and Nasarawa states. The crackdown recovered firearms, livestock and assorted stolen goods.
Between May 22 and May 29, 2026, Jigawa State Police Command arrested several criminals involved in various crimes. Command spokesman Shi'isu Lawan Adam disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Officers recovered one fabricated AK-47 rifle, three motorcycles, six sheep and other items during the operations. Three suspects were identified as Musa "Kala," 45, of Fateka Settlement; Manu Abdullahi, 30, of Mashin Bura Village; and Yusuf Ibrahim, 35, of Marke Village.
In a related bust, police arrested Adamu Gari, 55, and Abdullahi Adamu, 40. According to officials, the two were allegedly scheming to kidnap residents of Jama'are in Bauchi State.
Both suspects are assisting investigators with their inquiries. The command hasn't disclosed additional details about their alleged plot.
Elsewhere in Jigawa, operatives nabbed sheep thieves Mustapha Badamasi, 30, and Khalid Zubairu, 20. Officers recovered four stolen sheep and a Bajaj motorcycle from them.
Two suspected cattle rustlers faced arrest in Taura LGA during the same period. Police recovered additional stolen livestock from their custody.
In Nasarawa State, the story took a different turn on May 30, 2026. A Keffi resident reported burglary at his Kofar Hausa residence, saying thieves stole an Android phone.
Detectives moved swiftly and arrested Shafiu Abdul-Rauf and Usman Abdulmumuni, both from Mayanka in Keffi. Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the arrests Thursday.
A search of the suspects yielded shocking results. Officers found a locally fabricated pistol loaded with live ammunition, two cutlasses, a knife, two Android phones, one Itel phone, a key bunch and other suspected stolen property.
Both men face charges bordering on theft, conspiracy and illegal firearm possession. Investigations are ongoing as detectives work to establish their full criminal network.
