Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, on his emergence as Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

Guwor was elected at the Conference’s General Meeting held in Abuja on Monday, a development regarded as a major milestone for Delta State’s presence in national legislative leadership.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori described the emergence as well-deserved, noting that it reflects Guwor’s legislative experience, leadership capacity, and commitment to democratic governance.

Oborevwori, who previously served as Treasurer and Deputy Chairman of the Speakers’ Forum during his tenure as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, emphasised the strategic importance of the Conference in Nigeria’s democratic framework.

He noted that the body plays a critical role in strengthening cooperation among state legislatures and promoting good governance across the federation.

According to the governor, Guwor’s election represents not only a personal accomplishment but also a recognition of the stability, maturity, and progressive character of the Delta State legislature.

Oborevwori expressed confidence that Guwor would provide inclusive, reform-driven leadership capable of deepening synergy among state assemblies and other arms of government.

He added that the development further enhances Delta State’s profile in national legislative affairs and underscores its growing influence in advancing democratic governance in Nigeria.
