Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved automatic scholarship awards for the best graduating students in all four state-owned universities, a major step toward promoting academic excellence and advancing youth development across the state.

The Executive Secretary of the Delta State Bursary and Scholarship Board, Dr. Godfrey Enita, announced the initiative, describing it as a clear demonstration of the Governor’s commitment to human capital development under the M.O.R.E. Agenda. According to him, the automatic scholarships reflect the administration’s resolve to empower young scholars and strengthen the state’s intellectual capacity.

The scheme will apply to the Best Graduating Student from each academic session in Delta State University, Abraka; Delta State University of Science and Technology, Ozoro; University of Delta, Agbor; and Dennis Osadebay University, Asaba.

Dr. Enita stated that each beneficiary will receive full funding to pursue Master’s and PhD degrees in approved Nigerian universities. He noted that awardees must complete the standard scholarship processing and documentation before accessing the funds.

He added that the policy reinforces efforts to build a highly skilled, globally competitive youth population capable of contributing meaningfully to Delta State’s long-term development.

“The Board remains committed to creating opportunities that uplift our students and encourage academic distinction,” Enita affirmed.

The new scholarship programme is expected to inspire greater academic performance among undergraduates and further position Delta State as a rising centre for educational excellence in Nigeria.
