Oba Ewuare II Foundation Organises Sensitization Campaign against Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration

Oba Ewuare II Foundation has organised a road show to sensitize the people on the need to say no to Human Trafficking and irregular migration.

The road show which started from the Oba Palace took the Ambassador and Queen of Ewuare II Foundation, Miss Ifueko Aideyan and her crew through major streets in Benin City including the Oba Market.

At the Edo State House of Assembly, Oba Ewuare II Foundation sensitization crew were received by Hon. Roland Asoro, the House Majority Leader, with a promise that the Edo State House of Assembly would not relent in supporting the efforts of His Royal Majesty, Oba of Benin and Governor Godwin Obaseki at tackling the scourge of human trafficking in the state, adding that the house has passed a law criminalising human trafficking in the state.

Next stop was the Government House, where the Oba Ewuare II Foundation sensitization crew was received by the state Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu.

Hon Shaibu said apart from payment of stipend to the Libya returnees, the state government has gone further to train them in various skills and trade, and commended the Benin Monarch for his support to the returnee and his zeal to eradicate the menace of human trafficking from the society.

The Ambassador and Queen of Oba Ewuare II Foundation, Miss Ifueko Aideyan said everyone must join hand to stop human trafficking and irregular migration in the state.

She advised parents not to allow their children to be trafficked; pointing out that human trafficking is evil and the traffickers used fake promises to lure their victims.

 

Miss Ifueko Aideyan said the Oba Ewuare II Foundation among others provides free skills acquisition and vocational training for youths and victims of human trafficking, and urged them to key into the programme and acquires a skill that will provide them better source of livelihood.

On his part, the Secretary to Oba Ewuare II Foundation and Private Secretary to the Oba of Benin, Barr. Eseosa Eremwanarue said the foundation is out to condemn the evil acts of human trafficking and irregular migration, pointing out that the Oba of Benin is determined to eliminate the practices among the people as well as support the returnees with stipend to help them settle down.
