Abuja, Nigeria - The National Service Corps (NYSC) has responded to a viral TikTok video that falsely suggests a change in the uniform worn by Corps members.
The NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, has urged the public, particularly Prospective Corps members, to disregard the video, which he described as "misleading and highly embarrassing."
In a statement, Megwa clarified that all items received by Corps members upon arrival at Orientation Camps remain unchanged.
He emphasized that the NYSC is currently distributing uniforms and other essential items to all 37 Orientation Camps across the country in preparation for the forthcoming 2024 Batch 'B' Stream One Orientation course.
The NYSC also confirmed that the Federal Government has recently approved an improvement in the quality of the material used in sewing Corps Members' uniforms, which is already being enjoyed by Corps members.
In light of the incident, the NYSC has issued a stern warning to social media influencers, urging them to refrain from using the NYSC Corporate brand in any online medium that may attract negative publicity to the Scheme.
Defaulters will face prosecution according to legal provisions.
The NYSC remains committed to providing quality service to Corps members and ensuring that all items received during registration at Orientation Camps remain the same, despite the viral video's false claims.
