Northern Elders Forum Condemns Removal of Rev. Yakubu Pam from NCPC Leadership

The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has strongly condemned the recent removal of Rev. Yakubu Pam as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrimage Commission (NCPC), citing concerns over the lack of transparency and due process in his dismissal.

In a statement released by the Director of Publicity and Advocacy, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, the NEF expressed deep apprehension over the decision, which has caused significant unrest among the Northern Christian and Muslim communities.

Rev. Pam had served as the Executive Secretary of the NCPC for the past three years, and his removal before the completion of his tenure has raised serious questions about the government’s commitment to fairness and justice.

The NEF has called for a review of the decision, demanding that Rev. Pam be reinstated to complete his four-year term, as stipulated by law.

The NEF has also voiced its concern over the appointment of a replacement from Lagos, questioning the representation of Northern Christians in key leadership positions within the government.

The Forum emphasized the need for fair and just processes in all government appointments, to promote unity and equity among all ethnic and religious groups in Nigeria.

Furthermore, the NEF condemned the disrespectful treatment of Rev. Pam during his removal, with reports suggesting that his belongings were callously thrown out of his office.

The Forum demanded that Rev. Pam be treated with the dignity and respect he deserves, and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his removal to ensure transparency and accountability within the NCPC leadership.

The NEF reiterated its commitment to fostering unity and equality among all Nigerians, stressing the importance of safeguarding the rights and interests of all citizens, regardless of their background.

The Forum will continue to advocate for fairness and justice in all aspects of governance to ensure a more inclusive and harmonious society.
