No Results Yet: Prof Wariboko Criticizes Tinubu’s Lack of Preparation

Professor of Social Ethics at Boston University, Nimi Wariboko, expressed his disappointment with President Bola Tinubu’s performance since taking office eight months ago.

He stated that the President, who won the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has not shown any evidence of being prepared for the role.

Wariboko criticized the current administration’s policies as “knee-jerk reactions,” claiming that the government lacks vision.

He argued that the removal of the petrol subsidy and other policies have not been met with any plan to cushion the economic effects, leaving the country to grapple with rising inflation, food inflation, and a high cost of living.

The Nigerian economy has been a source of concern for economists, opposition parties, labor unions, and civil society organizations.

The Federal Government has introduced some measures to address the situation, but the country’s economy continues to struggle.

The Nigerian naira has experienced a significant dip, falling from about N700/$1 last May to over N1500/$1 at the moment.

The price per liter of Premium Motor Spirit has also increased by over 350%, from N184 last May to over N600 at the moment.

Wariboko emphasized that there is no point in complaining about the previous administration, as the responsibility now lies with President Tinubu to deliver results.

He pointed out that the President’s lack of vision and preparation is evident in the absence of any clear plan for the country’s future.

The criticism from Prof Wariboko highlights the need for President Bola Tinubu to address the economic challenges facing Nigeria and to demonstrate his preparedness for the role by implementing effective policies and a clear vision for the country’s future.
