No Implosion in Delta APC, No Opposition: Emerhor Says APC set to sweep Delta in 2027

A founding leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, has firmly dismissed fears of an impending implosion within the party, declaring that the APC is united, stable, and firmly positioned for victory ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Emerhor, who also chairs the APC Leadership Council in Ughelli North Local Government Area, spoke to journalists shortly after a general meeting of the party held in Uduere, Ughelli North, describing claims of internal crisis as unfounded and outdated.

“Nothing like that. Where the implosion is supposed to happen has already happened,” Emerhor said. “You can see clearly that the PDP does not exist anymore. Look at the way the APC is moving forward. The President is an astute politician; he knows how to handle these things. At the state level, we have over 26 governors holding their states strong. So where is the implosion expected to come from? Nowhere.”

He stressed that the party remains solid at both national and state levels, expressing strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC governors across the country would secure re-election in 2027.

On the party’s electoral prospects in Delta State, Emerhor was unequivocal, describing APC’s chances as a certainty rather than optimism.

“This is more than hope; it is certainty. There is no other party in Delta State. In the whole of Ughelli North, there is no opposition. The two major parties have come together, and we are delivering Ughelli North 100 per cent and Delta State 100 per cent,” he declared.

Emerhor also took time to send a Christmas message to Nigerians, expressing optimism about the economy and recent policy reforms under the Tinubu administration.

“I thank God that the price of rice is coming down based on the good work of the President. The exchange rate is now stable, and I heard that Dangote has reduced the price of fuel,” he said. “Many good things are happening. The President is tackling insecurity head-on, and we are hopeful that Nigerians will have a peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration.”

He further assured Nigerians that efforts to ease economic hardship would continue, adding that prices would “continue to reduce again and again.”

Explaining the significance of the Ughelli North meeting, Emerhor said it was the first general APC gathering in the area since the merger of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure into the APC in Delta State.

“This is a general meeting of the APC in Ughelli North, and you can see that all our leaders are here,” he said. “We have representatives from the eleven wards, and we even increased them to twelve by grouping non-indigenes as a ward. The purpose of this meeting is to ignite and consolidate the unity we have achieved through the merger of PDP and APC, to show clearly that there is no division in Ughelli North.”

According to him, while leadership-level engagements had been ongoing since the merger, the Uduere meeting was designed to bring the grassroots fully on board.

“The party is at the grassroots. Today, we brought everybody together as one party, and we recommitted ourselves to our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is coming back in 2027, and our Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who is also coming back in 2027. We will work and deliver them,” Emerhor stated.

The meeting drew party leaders, ward executives, and grassroots members from across Ughelli North Local Government Area, marking a major show of unity following recent political realignments in Delta State.
