NIPR delegation pays condolence visit to Omu-Anioma’s family

The Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Delta State Chapter, Mr. Godfrey Osakwe on Wednesday, led a delegation on a condolence visit to the family of late Omu Anioma, Her Royal Majesty, Obi (Dr.) Martha Dunkwu.

 

Mr. Osakwe, along with some of the Executive Committee Members (EXCO), of the State Chapter including the General Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, the Treasurer, Mrs. Gertrude Onyekachukwu and the Public Relations Executive (PRE), Ms. Joy Ochei were received in the Palace of late Omu Anioma in Okpanam, Delta State by her son, Dr. Afamefuna Dunkwu- Okafor with other family members.

Mr. Osakwe described the passing of Omu Anioma as a great loss, not just to the Dunkwu family and Anioma nation, but to the PR profession and humanity in general. He said that the late Omu Anioma was truly a great mother, a senior professional colleague, an erudite scholar, a teacher of etiquette, a peacemaker, a culture connoisseur, a fashionista, and a humanist, who made great impacts in the society she lived and in the lives of many at different spheres of life; and she will be sorely missed.

The Chairman assured Dr. Afamefuna Dunkwu- Okafor, that NIPR shares in the pain and loss of a great mother and prayed for God’s enablement and wisdom to carry on the good legacy that Omu Anioma was known for.

Speaking earlier, Joy Ochei, the PRE, extolled the virtues of HRM, Obi Dr. Martha Dunkwu describing her as a cerebral queen mother, a cultural elegance personified and very accommodating. Ochei said that Omu Anioma was indeed a mother of good virtue and will be missed by all.

The high point of the visit was the presentation of the NIPR condolence letter to the late Omu’s son, Dr. Dunkwu-Okafor and the condolence register was signed on behalf of NIPR Delta state Chapter by Mrs. Gertrude Onyekachukwu.

Responding on behalf of the family, Late Omu’s son, Dr. Dunkwu- Okafor thanked the Delta State Chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations for the visit.

“I appreciate your love and care towards my late mother and your professional colleague. She was a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations among many other professional bodies and chambers of Commerce. She was once the Public Relations Officer to His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba Erediauwa, CFR, the Oba of Benin” Dr. Dunkwu-Okafor stated.

He said that the family appreciated the visit and looked forward to NIPR’s participation at the memorial farewell of Omu Anioma, soon to be announced.
