Nigeria's transport sector is gearing up for crucial discussions on safety coordination. Industry leaders will converge at the 12th Nigeria Transport Lecture next year.
The event takes place June 18, 2026, at Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. Transport Day Media, a specialist platform covering logistics and transportation, is organising it.
Boboye Oyeyemi, national president of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation, will address delegates. Also speaking is Ogochukwu Ugboma, dean of the School of Transportation and Logistics at Lagos State University.
Their focus: multi-modal transportation safety in Nigeria. The lecture explores prospects, challenges, and how the sector can drive national growth.
Major stakeholders from government and private industry are expected to attend. Discussion will centre on safety concerns and policy frameworks needed to strengthen multi-modal systems.
This lecture has attracted heavyweight figures over the years. Past speakers include Dakuku Peterside, former NIMASA director-general, and Anthonia Ekpa, ex-federal permanent secretary.
Kayode Opeifa, managing director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, has also addressed previous editions. The event has become a platform for key policy conversations.
Frank Kintum, editor of Transport Day Media, spoke about the rationale for this year's theme. He told reporters the platform remains vital for tackling pressing sector issues.
"Every year we use this lecture to discuss what's happening in the industry," Kintum said. "This year we chose multi-modal transportation safety because without it, government initiatives could fail."
According to him, safety underpins the success of multi-modal transport projects. Without proper coordination and safety standards, these initiatives may not deliver their intended benefits.
Kintum noted the lecture represents Transport Day Media's commitment to the sector. It's aimed at building a sustainable and efficient transport industry across Nigeria and Africa.
