Nigeria’s Economic Growth Initiatives 2024: Key Strategies for Job Creation and Trade Expansion

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, outlined key initiatives aimed at accelerating economic growth and job creation in Nigeria for the year 2024.

These initiatives, led by the Tinubu administration, focus on the country’s accession to the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) to increase export diversification, market access expansion, and foreign direct investment.

The Ministry is actively working to reform the commodity trading landscape, creating better outcomes for farmers and miners.

This includes upgrading the National Commodity Exchange (NCX) operations, implementing robust outreach programs, and establishing a National Job Centre.

Additionally, the Skill-UP Artisans program (SUPA) aims to empower 10 million artisans with tech-enabled skills and industry-standard certifications, addressing skill gaps and reducing reliance on labor imports.

The Minister emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration and innovative solutions in achieving these goals.

The second edition of the Ministerial Press Briefing Series (MPBS) featured the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment and was attended by key officials, including the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who moderated the event, highlighted the importance of transparency and keeping the Nigerian people informed about the government’s plans for economic growth and job creation.

The Nigerian government is taking significant steps to boost economic growth and job creation in 2024 through strategic initiatives focused on trade expansion, market access, and technology-enabled skills development.
