Nigerian Students Face Hardship, Struggle to Attend Regular Lectures

In the face of Nigeria’s ongoing economic crisis, students in the country are experiencing hardship and finding it increasingly difficult to attend regular lectures.

The National President of the Nigerian Association of Science Students, Comrade Henry Enyinstede, has expressed concern over the impact of the high cost of living on students’ academic performance.

The rising cost of tuition fees and registration forms for the Joint Matriculation Board (JAMB) and institutions’ Post JAMB exams has made it even more challenging for aspiring students to pursue higher education.

With many students relying on their families for financial support, the recent removal of oil subsidies has led to a sharp increase in the price of goods and services, including food and transportation.

The struggle to afford daily necessities is taking a toll on students’ ability to focus on their studies, as they are forced to prioritize basic needs over attending lectures regularly.

This situation has the potential to negatively impact their academic performance and future prospects.

Despite being one of the world’s resource-rich economies, Nigeria continues to grapple with widespread poverty.

The economic crisis has left students feeling helpless and hopeless, as they face an uncertain future.

The situation is further compounded by the lack of support from student unions, which are often influenced by school management rather than advocating for the students’ best interests.

The Nigerian government must address the economic crisis and its impact on students, as their success is crucial for the country’s long-term development.

It is essential to find a balance between providing affordable education and ensuring the well-being of students, so they can focus on their studies and achieve their full potential.
