Nigerian Immigration Service Launches Automated Passport Application System

The Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) has launched an automated passport application system on January 8, 2024. The new system, which was officially introduced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aims to reduce human contact and improve the overall efficiency of the application process.

The automated system allows applicants to upload their passport photographs and other supporting documents from the comfort of their homes, making the process more convenient and less time-consuming.

This new development is expected to reduce the stress and difficulties that many Nigerians face when applying for international passports.

According to the Minister of Interior, the new system is an important step in strengthening the country’s security architecture and safeguarding Nigerian residents’ comfort and convenience.

The Nigeria Immigration Service has also deployed document verification personnel across all local government areas in the country to improve document verification and reduce the use of forged documents in passport applications.

With the launch of the automated passport application system, Nigerians can now look forward to a more efficient and hassle-free experience when applying for their international passports.
