The Nigerian government has revealed its plans to address the pressing issue of food inflation in the country.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, stated that the government is working to reduce food inflation through massive food production and other measures.
The government’s plan includes a focus on staple crops, using technology and mechanization to ramp up production.
The goal is to drive down food inflation, which is currently a major driver of overall inflation in Nigeria.
The Minister also emphasized that President Bola Tinubu’s agenda on food security is on course, and that the government is committed to ensuring a food-secured Nigeria.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is working towards implementing its planned programmes in line with the President’s vision for the agricultural sector.
In 2024, the government intends to continue its efforts to boost food production and ensure sustainability.
This includes support for wheat production in states like Jigawa, as well as collaboration with stakeholders in the agricultural sector to overcome challenges and achieve success in intervention programs.
