Niger Farmers Rescued: Security Operatives Save 16 Kidnapped Victims

In a successful rescue operation, security operatives in Niger State have managed to free 16 farmers who were abducted by suspected bandits in the Dan-Gunu Community of the Munya Local Government Area.

The incident occurred last Wednesday when armed gunmen stormed the community and kidnapped the victims, including pregnant women and children.

The Chairman of the Munya LGA, Abdulhamid Najume, confirmed the rescue in a telephone interview on Saturday.

According to Najume, an emergency security meeting was held, and security operatives were deployed to pursue the bandits.

The kidnapped farmers were successfully rescued and are currently receiving medical care at a local hospital before being reunited with their families.

In addition to the rescue, the local government has taken steps to reopen some primary schools that were closed due to insecurity in the area.

Najume mentioned that the schools are being renovated to create a conducive learning environment for the children who have been out of school for years.

The local government has also distributed teaching materials and learning materials to support parents and students in their return to school.

Najume emphasized that the children have been out of school for too long and that the local government is committed to ensuring their safe return to the classroom.
