Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has once again demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment by organizing a capacity-building workshop for Anioma youths.
The event, which also served as an empowerment initiative, was part of his ongoing constituency projects. Despite funding delays, Senator Nwoko personally financed the program as a fulfillment of his campaign pledge to improve the lives of Delta North residents, particularly the youth.
The Senator emphasized the importance of equipping Anioma youths with the skills and knowledge necessary to face modern challenges. He highlighted that engaging young people meaningfully is critical to steering them away from negative influences.
This recent workshop marks the third empowerment program Senator Nwoko has initiated since assuming office in the Senate. He pledged to sustain these efforts, ensuring that more youths can benefit and gain the tools to enhance their lives and contribute to their families and society.
As part of his broader vision for the Anioma people, Senator Nwoko underscored the legislative progress made towards creating Anioma State. The proposal, which has passed its first reading in the Senate, aims to open doors for economic growth, governance participation, and public service opportunities for the Anioma people.
He explained to the youths that the proposed state would have its own Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches, three Senators, nine House of Representatives members, State Legislators, and other key offices. This would create numerous opportunities for political and public service appointments, directly benefiting the people of Anioma.
Acknowledging the contributions of previous advocates for Anioma State, Senator Nwoko expressed his determination to bring the dream to fruition. As a member of the Senate Constitution Review Committee, he remains optimistic about Anioma State’s potential as part of Nigeria’s future state creation initiatives.
The Senator encouraged beneficiaries of the workshop to make the most of this opportunity, revealing that a WhatsApp group would be established to monitor their progress and provide a platform for addressing challenges.
On behalf of the participants, Comrade Friday Ogor, Chairman of the Association of Persons Living with Disabilities (Ika South Chapter) and Special Assistant to the Governor on PWDs Affairs, expressed gratitude to Senator Nwoko. He praised the Senator’s dedication to empowering the youths and advancing the Anioma State agenda.
Comrade Ogor also pledged the unwavering support of the youths in the struggle for Anioma State’s creation.
In a remarkable display of unity, over 300 youths from the 98 wards in Delta North unanimously endorsed Senator Nwoko’s leadership and pledged their support for his efforts to empower the region and achieve the creation of Anioma State.
