Leaders of Ndokwa East communities in Delta State have passed a vote of confidence on the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing their commitment to development and responsive governance in oil-producing communities.

The endorsement came on Wednesday, during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ndokwa East Local Government Area attended by the executive committee of HOSTCOM, Presidents-General of Ndokwa East clans, Community Development Committee (CDC) chairmen, and other community leaders.

The meeting was convened at the instance of Dr. Charles Olisa, who represents the Ndokwa ethnic nationality on the DESOPADEC Governing Board. During the engagement, he briefed stakeholders on the commission’s activities and ongoing interventions across Ndokwa communities.

According to him, DESOPADEC has continued to implement projects and programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of people in oil-producing areas, including infrastructural development, social empowerment initiatives and environmental sustainability programmes.

Community leaders at the meeting commended Dr. Olisa for what they described as his accessibility and consistent engagement with grassroots stakeholders, noting that his efforts have strengthened the relationship between DESOPADEC and the host communities.

The stakeholders unanimously passed the vote of confidence on DESOPADEC, Governor Oborevwori and President Tinubu, describing their policies and programmes as beneficial to the growth and stability of Ndokwa communities.

The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Chief Prince Richard Obi and seconded by Chief Sunday Okiah, while the Chairman of HOSTCOM, Pastor Samuel Enebeli, and other leaders expressed support for the resolution.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Olisa urged community leaders to continue to promote peace and ensure the protection of oil facilities within their domains, emphasising the importance of maintaining harmonious relationships with oil companies operating in the area.

He assured them that Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative remain focused on improving the welfare of citizens, adding that the DESOPADEC board would sustain the implementation of meaningful projects across Ndokwa communities.

Dr. Olisa further reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to advancing sustainable development and empowerment programmes aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening economic opportunities for residents of Ndokwa Nation.
