The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently unveiled its newly upgraded forensic laboratory in Lagos.

The upgrade, facilitated by the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), is set to enhance the operational standards and performance of the agency.

NDLEA Chairman, Buba Marwa, expressed his confidence in the upgraded facility, stating that it would provide state-of-the-art analytical equipment and enhance optimal performance in line with standard operational laboratory procedures and best practices.

This, in turn, will strengthen evidence-based analytical processes in forensic analysis.

The project was implemented by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), which was also commended by Marwa for their role in the successful upgrade.

The NDLEA boss highlighted the importance of modern forensic laboratories in combating substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking across Nigeria.

The newly refurbished forensic laboratory has received positive feedback on Twitter, with many users expressing their support for the agency's efforts in combating drug-related crimes.

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria praised the partnership between the United States INL and the NDLEA, and the UNODC Deputy Country Representative, Danilo Campisi, commended the collaboration between the organizations.
