The Nigerian Democratic Congress in Cross River is determined to present strong candidates for the 2027 elections. Party Chairman Goddie Akpama made this commitment during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Calabar.
Akpama noted that NDC has experienced significant growth since Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso joined its ranks. He described the party as an emerging political force gaining considerable traction in recent weeks.
"The NDC represents a new direction for Nigeria," Akpama told reporters. According to him, the party remains devoted to offering credible governance and leadership to Nigerians.
The chairman said NDC is collaborating with major political figures to bolster its institutional framework. Such partnerships, he noted, will enhance the party's appeal across Nigeria.
Internal disagreements are normal in democratic settings, Akpama insisted. He stressed that such differences won't shake the party's determination to succeed.
Building unity among members and key stakeholders is crucial right now. Akpama explained that this approach will help prevent internal strife within NDC.
The party is working to consolidate its support base nationwide. Leadership at state and national levels is within reach, he said.
"We are not jokers in this endeavor," Akpama declared. In his words, NDC will only nominate candidates with proven capacity and strong integrity.
Strengthening organizational structures remains the party's immediate priority. Akpama added that maintaining internal harmony is equally important for NDC's future success.
