NAWOJ moves to promote women inclusion in digital sector

 The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Bauchi State Chapter, has reiterated commitment to empower women towards promoting their inclusion in digital sector.
The Chairperson of the association, Mrs Rashida Yusuf said this at an event organised to commemorate the 2023 International Women’s Day, on Wednesday in Bauchi.
The association organised the even in collaboration with the Bauchi State Action Committee on Gender Based Violence (BASCGBV) and the American Spaces.
She said the association would focus on capacity building of women at grassroots to enable them to embrace digital technology in all aspects of human endeavour.
She said that women embracing ICT and complying with digital best practices would avail them opportunities to further excel in their chosen trades.
According to Yusuf, bringing women into technology has greater potential for innovations that meet their needs and promote gender equality.
She lauded the American Spaces and (BASCGBV) for their support towards successful conduct of the exercise.
The Coordinator, American Spaces, Mr Nasiru Launi said the centre would train women in ICT skills to enable them to catch up with innovations and improve their enterprising skills.
“The center would train women on entrepreneurship and other productive ventures. It also encourage women journalists to be steadfast in their commitment towards acquiring vocational skills.
“We have a proposal to train hundreds of women in ICT and entrepreneurship in collaboration with NAWOJ,” he said.
