Navy offers free medical service to over 500 Oghara residents

More than 500 residents of Oghara Community in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State today, benefited from a free medical outreach organised by the Headquarters Nigerian Navy Logistics Command, held at the Civic Center in Oghara, Delta State.

The free medical treatments which include giving out of free mosquito nets, health talk, malaria test, Blood Pressure check, and blood sugar test was part of activities marking the 62nd -anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Navy.

The programme which was tagged; ‘Medical Rhapsody’ included free consultation, HIV/AIDS screening and provision of drugs to patients.

The Flag Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Rear Admiral Akinjide Akinrinade  who was represented by Chief Staff Officer,  Rear Admiral Mike Okonkwo , said the exercise was part of Navy ’ s corporate social responsibility towards strengthening Civil – Military relations with the host Community.

He said that through the free medical outreach, the Nigeria Navy hoped to enhance the health status of Nigerians and improve the civil /military relationship.

“Oghara Junction was considered as a beneficiary for this year 2018 free medical care. We hope they take people of Oghara will take advantage of this medical outreach.

Furthermore, as we conduct this medical rhapsody, permit me to use this medium to advice our youths and anyone who may have negative intent to engage in any form of crime that the Nigeria Navy and other Security agencies are well positioned to curb such crimes.

“Therefore, such individuals are advised to have a rethink and re-direct their efforts to noble profitable ventures to their benefits and that of the nation” adding that the HQ LOC is carrying out this medical rhapsody in accordance with the directives of the Chief of the Navy Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas to ensure the society is healthy and free of crimes to archive economic prosperity without fear of intimidation or threat to lives and properties.
