Governor Abdullahi Sule has won the APC primary election for Nasarawa North senatorial seat. He'll represent the party in the 2027 general elections.
Returning officer Musa Shuaibu Guri announced the results on Monday, May 18. Sule polled 47,393 votes to secure the ticket decisively.
His main rival, former Deputy Governor Silas Ali Agara, trailed far behind. Agara managed only 2,915 votes in the primary contest.
Guri praised the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and well-organised. He commended party members and officials for conducting it smoothly across the district.
Not everyone accepted the outcome without question, however. Several allegations of irregularities have surfaced in some quarters.
Sources claim voting didn't happen at numerous polling centres. They allege some results were altered by officials connected to government.
According to reports, disruptions occurred in parts of Nasarawa North during the exercise. Critics say the process wasn't as smooth as officials claimed.
Despite the allegations, the APC electoral committee confirmed Sule's victory. His candidacy for the 2027 senatorial race now stands official.
Sule will face challenges from other parties in the general election. The controversy surrounding his primary victory may linger.
