Caleb Mutfwang has won the APC governorship ticket for Plateau State. He defeated retired naval commander Yilcini Jan Bida in Thursday's primary election.

Mutfwang, who currently serves as governor, secured 233,335 votes in the contest. Bida managed only 3,070 votes across all 17 local government areas.

Fidelis Mnyim announced the results on Friday night as the election's returning officer. He confirmed that Mutfwang met all constitutional requirements for the nomination.

"Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang is hereby declared the winner," Mnyim stated officially. "He is returned elected as the APC Governorship Candidate for Plateau State."

Bida's campaign failed to gain significant traction among party delegates. His performance suggests limited support within APC structures across the state.

Mutfwang switched to the APC from the Peoples Democratic Party last December. He cited the need for "clarity of purpose and effective service delivery" when he left the PDP.

His move to the ruling party positions him as a major contender for 2027. The general election will determine whether he retains the governorship under his new party banner.

Party officials now expect Mutfwang to unite delegates behind his candidacy. Campaign activities for the general election are expected to intensify in coming weeks.
