Military troops have killed three terrorists in coordinated operations across Katsina State. The operations took place on May 9, 2026, across multiple local government areas.

Soldiers from 171 Battalion stationed at Forward Operating Base FUDMA conducted an ambush along the Matazu–Dutsin-Ma route. They neutralised the three militants after acting on intelligence reports.

Two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines were recovered from the slain terrorists. Troops also seized one motorcycle, three cutlasses and assorted charms.

Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja confirmed the details in a statement released by the Joint Task Force. He serves as Media Information Officer for Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

In separate operations, soldiers cleared terrorist hideouts in three villages. The locations included Torcachi, Giginya, and Tashar Ganji in the affected areas.

Troops worked alongside members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps during the raids. Militants fled their camps as security forces advanced.

One hundred seventy-five cattle stolen by rustlers were recovered during the operations. Military personnel are currently safeguarding the animals pending handover to local authorities.

At Kauyan Dawo in Malumfashi LGA, soldiers and NDLEA operatives arrested six drug suspects. The men ranged in age from 22 to 35 years old.

Officers recovered cannabis and other controlled substances from the arrested individuals. The seizure included 82.5 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa and other narcotics.

All six suspects have been transferred to NDLEA custody for prosecution. They face charges related to drug trafficking.

Military officials urged residents to share credible security information with authorities. Public cooperation, they noted, remains vital to ongoing operations.
