Evangelist Mike Bamiloye says Pastor Enoch Adeboye won't lead protests because of his age. Bamiloye heads Mount Zion Faith Ministries and spoke up to defend the RCCG leader.
Adeboye released a video on Tuesday calling for action. He urged President Tinubu to give service chiefs 90 days to crush terrorism or step down.
Some reports claimed Adeboye had cancelled a planned protest against insecurity. Critics and bloggers twisted his message, Bamiloye argued.
Writing on Instagram, Bamiloye defended the cleric's actual position. "He spoke against the evils," Bamiloye noted, criticising how media outlets misrepresented him.
Bamiloye then addressed those expecting Adeboye to lead demonstrations. "This does not make sense by virtue of his age and his calling," he wrote.
According to Bamiloye, an 84-year-old man of God shouldn't be staging street protests. His role differs from political activism, the evangelist suggested.
