Former legislators from Enugu State have praised Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah's three years in office. The Association of Former Lawmakers of the Enugu State House of Assembly made the commendation during a meeting on June 3, 2026.

They gathered at the Enugu Sports Club for their plenary session. Speakers and principal officers from the legislature attended.

In their resolution, the former lawmakers highlighted what they called remarkable progress across key sectors. They noted achievements in infrastructure and the state's economy.

Transportation got particular mention. Mbah established Enugu Air, built modern bus terminals, and expanded urban road networks across the state.

Gateway roads connecting different parts of Enugu also received the group's praise. According to them, these projects show the governor's commitment to development.

Education and healthcare investments drew strong applause from the association. Officials confirmed that over 260 ward-based Smart Schools have been constructed.

Type II Primary Healthcare Centres were also built in communities. The former lawmakers said these initiatives would reduce poverty significantly.

They'll improve residents' quality of life, the group added. The projects demonstrate focus on human development.

Landmark initiatives like the New Enugu Smart City impressed the association. An International Conference Centre and the revitalised Presidential Hotel were also mentioned as evidence of progress.

Budget allocation to education stood out to the former lawmakers. Mbah committed over 33 percent of state funds to the sector.

The group called this "a bold investment in human capital." They noted it signals priority for the state's future.

A $20 million Haier Factory caught their attention as well. The assembly plant produces laptops, smartphones, and spare parts.

According to the association, this factory will create jobs. It'll also attract more industrial investment to Enugu.

Youth employment came up in discussions too. Officials noted the 042 Ride Taxi Scheme provides sustainable opportunities for young people.

The scheme also strengthens public transport services. Former lawmakers saw it as addressing unemployment while improving mobility.

Governor Mbah's support for Rangers International Football Club received recognition. The association considers the team vital to Igbo identity.

"Rangers is far more than a football club," they stated. "It symbolises the Igbo war experience, resilience, and our indomitable spirit."

The club's name evokes memories of courage and collective identity. It represents values demonstrated during Nigeria's civil war.

Rangers embodies the Igbo philosophy of perseverance. For the former lawmakers, it's an enduring symbol of heritage and pride.

The association wished Mbah success in transforming the state. They expressed confidence in his efforts to improve citizens' welfare.
