Governor Seyi Makinde has secured the presidential ticket of the Allied Peoples Movement for the 2027 general election. All 36 state chairmen of the party endorsed his candidacy unanimously.
The endorsement took place at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall in Ibadan on Thursday. Party leaders, delegates, and supporters gathered to witness the historic moment.
APM National Chairman Yusuf Dantali presented Makinde with his Certificate of Return and the party flag. Dantali praised the selection process in his remarks.
"This exercise has been one of the most peaceful and transparent processes in the country," the chairman told the crowd. He stressed that consensus had strengthened unity within the party.
According to Dantali, Makinde possesses the experience and vision Nigeria needs. He described the Oyo governor as capable of tackling the nation's socio-economic and governance challenges.
Dantali said the APM stands ready to offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027. He called on party members nationwide to rally behind their presidential candidate.
"We must mobilise support across every region," the national chairman urged party faithful. His message emphasized the need for unity during the campaign.
Makinde accepted the nomination with appreciation for the party's confidence in him. He pledged to work closely with stakeholders nationwide to advance the APM's vision.
The governor promised to champion the party's agenda throughout the 2027 election cycle. His acceptance marks a significant milestone in the APM's election preparations.
