Nollywood swept Nigerian cinemas over the June 5-7 weekend, claiming five of the top ten spots. Local films dominated earnings during the period.

Call of My Life earned the number one position with N63.8 million for the weekend alone. Its four-week total has now reached N498.8 million.

Ajosepo: The Gathering secured second place in its second week. The film pulled in N32.3 million and has accumulated N99.6 million overall.

Three more Nollywood titles rounded out the top ten. The Boy Who Gave, Efunroye, and Okanjuwa claimed seventh, ninth, and tenth positions respectively.

Hollywood offerings produced mixed results at the local box office. Masters of the Universe debuted at third with N21.4 million.

Michael, the Jackson biopic, held fourth position in its seventh week. It's collected a strong N727.1 million to date.

Scary Movie 6 and Deep Water took fifth and sixth spots as new releases. Mortal Kombat II landed eighth.

Industry observers say Nollywood is riding strong momentum into June. Audiences clearly prefer local stories over imported content at present.

But the landscape could shift dramatically later this month. Pixar's Toy Story 5 arrives toward month's end, alongside DC's Supergirl.

Toy Story 5 is expected to perform exceptionally well. The family-friendly animation will likely attract crowds during school holidays.

It could threaten Call of My Life and Ajosepo for the top spot. Parent-child moviegoing may split the family audience segments.

Supergirl, positioned as an action blockbuster, should draw superhero enthusiasts. Many analysts predict it could dominate the final June weekend.

Currently, Nollywood's leaders benefit from word-of-mouth momentum and established theatrical runs. Call of My Life has demonstrated impressive staying power so far.

Big-budget Hollywood releases typically generate stronger opening weekends here. That pattern could squeeze earnings for ongoing Nollywood titles in coming weeks.

Local films may still maintain respectable mid-tier positions. Core audiences have shown consistent loyalty to Nigerian storytelling.

For now, Nollywood holds the advantage early in June. Hollywood's heavy hitters will test that position within days.
