Spotify has started rolling out a conversational AI feature that lets Premium subscribers chat with the app to find music and get information. The Stockholm music streaming giant began the gradual launch on July 14 across iOS and Android devices.
Eligible Premium users aged 18 and above in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden can now type or speak to Spotify on its Home and Now Playing screens in English. The feature works on both smartphones and tablets.
The conversational tool lets listeners request songs, refine their choices with follow-up questions, save tracks, add items to queues, and follow artists. Users can also ask about track inspiration, release dates, and review their listening history.
Someone could ask for music from artists they've never heard, then request something more upbeat once Spotify suggests Bad Bunny or another performer. The app answers questions spanning tracks, albums, artists, genres, podcasts, and audiobooks.
Spotify said it built the feature to make the platform feel more personal to each listener. The company blends its own AI technology with models from external providers, choosing whichever works best for each task.
This conversational tool joins Spotify's earlier AI moves. The company launched its AI DJ in 2023, added voice requests to it, rolled out Prompted Playlist in December 2025, and wove in ChatGPT recommendations in October 2025.
Spotify cautioned that as a beta product, responses may sometimes be inaccurate and that user feedback will shape where the feature goes next.
